Watch the 2011 AppWorldSolutions Elite Womens 800
The Saint Louis Track Club Elite Mens Mile has become one of the fastest and most competitive outdoor miles in the entire country! In 2009, US Olympian Leo Manzano led three men under the four minute barrier with his 3:55.29. That mark was the fastest mile ever run in the State of Missouri and at the time was the third fastest time in the world. In 2010 Andy McClary and Tommy Schmitz battled all the way to the finish line with both athletes running 3:58 for the mile and last year Nike Oregon Track Club member Jordan McNamara sprinted to victory in 3:57 over John Jefferson and hometown favorite Stephen Pifer.
2011 was the first year the Festival of Miles hosted an elite women's race as well. The AppWorldSolutions womens 800 turned out to be a huge crowd favorite as Team USA Minnesota teammates Gabriele Anderson and Heather Kampf treated everyone to a photo finish with Anderson getting the win by .01. It doesn't get much closer than that!
The winner of either the AppWorldSolutions womens 800 or the Saint Louis Track Club Mens Mile will win another $1,000. The winner will be determined by which winning time is superior according to the IAAF charts.
