Group Runs
Big River Running Company is committed to being a true running and walking community. Part of our mission is to be more than just a running store. We want to be a place where runners and walkers come to socialize, to train, and to learn more about the sport. Our group runs, walks, and speed workouts are a chance for runners and walkers of all ages and abilities to do just that. We offer a Monday Evening Run/Walk all year long at both the South City and O'Fallon locations as well as speed sessions on the track during the summer. We also offer Super Sunday Long Runs* and Wild Wednesday Workouts* during the spring to in preparation for the GO! St. Louis Marathon/ Half Marathon in April. For High School Runners we have a Monday Morning Group Run all summer long. SOUTH CITY STORE: Monday Night Group Run/Walk - We meet at our South City Store for a group run at 6:00pm. This run goes all year long and is for runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. Dogs and strollers welcome. We will go from the store to Francis Park, around it and back for the short loop (3 miles). Two loops and back is 4.3 miles. The long loop features Francis Park, Wilmore Park and Christy Park before returning to the store (7 miles). See you there!!! O'FALLON STORE: Monday Night Group Run/Walk - We meet at our O'Fallon Store for a group run at 6:00pm. This run is for all ages and abilities. Dogs and strollers welcome. We offer a short loop (4 miles) and a long loop (6.4 miles). Check out the short course map HERE and the long course map HERE.. Super Sundays!! (Part of our GO! St. Louis Training Team)- Beginning January 22nd, 2012 and running through April 15th we invite everyone to join us for our Super Sunday Long Runs at 8am as you prepare for GO! St. Louis or the spring marathon/half marathon of your choice. The distance each week will be up to the individual but loops from 4-20 miles will be offered. For a full Super Sunday Long Run schedule click here. Tuesday/Thursday Speed Sessions - CHECK OUT MORE DETAILS HERE. Each Tuesday (West County) and Thursday (O'Fallon) evening beginning May 8th and running through August 2nd, we meet for a track workout at the local high school. Workouts will vary each week, but will usually total about 2-3 miles of speed work. An example workout might be 4 x 800 meters at goal 5k pace. These are called speed sessions, but remember that speed is relative. All ages and abilities are welcome and everyone can benefit from speed training. These workouts will help you run faster during your summer racing season and we will even have an three TIME TRIALS during the summer to see how much faster you have become!! Monday Morning High School Run (June-August 2012)*** - For the sixth year in a row Big River will be hosting a Monday Morning High School Run. As usual everyone is welcome, bring yourself or your whole team and find training partners to help you have a solid summer of training. This is where a successful cross country season begins! The run will start at the store and go to Queeny Park for loops of varying distances. The runs will begin June 4th and will start at 8:00am!
