Shortly after we chose Kingdom House as a charity partner for Big River Gives Back, they went through a metamorphosis as they adapted to meet the needs of their participants. They moved away from crisis services toward holistic transformations. Today their model is based on educational programming fused with personalized and supportive coaching. LifeWise STL is their new name which conveys what they are all about … helping people at every age live wisely.
Big River Gives Back aimed to specifically impact the Health & Wellness Program for women at LifeWise STL, which offers women free fitness classes, nutrition and cooking workshops, and a healthy meal feature.
“The nature of the health and wellness program at Kingdom House fits right in with what Big River Running is passionate about – helping people get active and live a healthy life,” said Katie Helbig, Marketing Director at Big River Running. “I love the idea of helping moms. Moms tent to put themselves and their needs last, especially if finances are tight and resources are scarce. Imagine the impact on a family if the mom is doing something for herself in a healthy way!”
As part of Big River Gives Back, we were able to gift more than 30 women a new pair of shoes, a sports bra and a pair of socks because Big River Nation chooses to shop local. We had a great visit at LifeWise STL in early October to deliver the goods to the women in their Health & Wellness program who are doing amazing things to exercise, eat right and take care of themselves so they can be healthy and their families can be healthy. Kudos to LifeWise STL for having a holistic approach that removes barriers for these women and offers childcare, healthy meals to take home, exercise classes and more. We are so proud to support LifeWise STL and their great work through Big River Gives Back. Thanks to Big River Nation for making it possible.
