We are thrilled to announce The Buddy Fund as our new charity partner for Big River Gives Back. The Buddy Fund supports at-risk St. Louis youth by providing sports equipment to 75+ organizations annually in low-income neighborhoods.
The Buddy Fund has been around for almost 60 years and was established by Buddy Blatner, a St. Louis native, former Cardinal’s baseball player (signed in 1938!) and then a well-known sports broadcaster. Their mission is to create opportunities for development of physical and mental health, confidence, character, teamwork, and respect for others by supplying new sports and recreation equipment to promote both in-school and after-school activities that are safe and productive.
Changing lives through sports and physical activity. That’s something we are passionate about and excited to support.
