Meet the Staff: Kristen

kristenThe same year Big River first opened its doors, Kristen’s family started a non-profit, FamiliesROC, dedicated to raising awareness about ovarian cancer and supporting women and their families as they deal with the disease in honor of her mother Brenda Jorgensen – an original Big River supporter who passionately survived for 7 years after her diagnosis.

Kristen has been a part of the Big River family since 2006 when FamiliesROC began working with Big River Running on their 5k, and officially joined the Big River team two years ago as the Director of Education. She is thrilled to be able to share her passion for running with the runners and walkers who come into the stores daily.

She is currently training for an epic ultra-marathon up to the summit of Mt. Mitchell in North Carolina and back down again. An avid dirt runner, she prefers spending most of her running hours off the roads and on the trails. Her favorite distance to race is an ultra. “Anything less than 26.2 miles feels like a sprint to me!”
