Meet the Staff: Mimi

Get to know the fit professionals lacing up your shoes at Big River Running. This month, meet Mimi – a long-time familiar face at Big River, helping customers for more than a decade find the perfect shoe or sharing advice about any and all things running.

Mimi moved to St. Louis from Memphis in 1982 and made a splash on the running scene here. She was three-time St Louis Track Club Runner of the Year and served one year as St. Louis Track Club President. She has run countless marathons and her favorites include all of her Boston Marathon finishes. Mimi recently moved to Columbia, IL where she has 20 acres of trails she can run. In addition to running in her own backyard, her other favorite place to put in some miles is Castlewood State Park.

If you’ve shopped at Big River Running anytime in the last decade, it’s highly possible Mimi helped you find the perfect pair of shoes, gave you advice on great places to run in the area or encouraged you to check out one of her favorite races. Mimi has used her extensive running background and knowledge of running gear in to help other St. Louis runners on their fitness journeys. Mimi says, “I love the community atmosphere at Big River and how our company is dedicated to giving back to the community. I love meeting new customers and seeing familiar faces who I’ve helped over the years either in the store, out on the trails, or at a race.”

Running aside, Mimi’s world revolves around her kids, both of whom love to run, too. You may know her son, Ben, who works at Big River South City. Mimi’s other hobbies include cooking and taking care of her dogs. On her days off she cooks meals for the whole week and loves to use the grill and smoker.
