West County staffer, Travis started running in 4th grade to get in shape for basketball, which he intended to be his main sport. His hoop dreams of playing college and professional basketball quickly faded as he discovered he was a way better runner. After running all four years of high school (and going to the state meet for both track and cross country) he was definitely sold on running. As a high schooler, Travis ran against Evan Jager, American Steeplechase Record Holder! In college he competed for Mckendree University, where he was a 2x National qualifier in cross country and a 2x National qualifier in track in the indoor 5k and outdoors for the marathon. Always looking ahead to the next thing, Travis has transitioned into ultra distances and hopes one day to run at an elite level for Ultra Trail Running and representing Big River while doing so. When he isn’t running, Travis enjoys being outdoors kayaking, hiking and skateboarding. Multi-talented, Travis is also an accomplished guitar player. Come visit him at Big River West County!
