As runners know, sometimes change can be a bad thing when it comes to our favorite model of shoes. Mizuno, after completely overhauling one of their most popular guidance shoes, the Wave Inspire, has worked to right some of the missteps runners felt from version 10 to 11. It was very clear that version 9 was immensely popular and the shoe had a loyal following. However, version 10 left a lot of runners shaking their heads at the drastic changes made to the shoe. It appears that Mizuno has listened and the Wave Inspire 11 is a more runable shoe, with improved cushioning in the forefoot and a better heel counter for a secure fit.
Some key features of the Wave Inspire 11 are the supportive Fan Wave within a light U4ic midsole which supports and guides the foot through the entire gait cycle as well as a supple internal straps hugging the foot for a secure and comfortable Dynamotion Fit. What this means is the Wave Inspire 11 will give you the support you need and fit your foot more comfortably while doing so. The upper is soft, breathable and comfortable, although not as stretchy as version 9. The shoe feels light enough to use for speedier runs but allows plenty of cushion for longer distances as well.
Some of our staff have been wearing the Inspire 11 and here are a few of their insights:
“I liked how the Inspire 11 was more form fitting, snug to the heel, and responsive. It felt light weight and offered more forefoot cushion.”
“I have been wearing mine for mid-week runs and like them much better than the version 10. They seem to feel more stable than the previous edition and are much softer.”
“I have had versions 8, 9, 10, and 11. While 8 and 9 were my favorites, the 11 is a major improvement to the 10. They still have the responsive feel that is synonymous with Mizuno, which I like. I have added these to my current rotation of training shoes.”
