Safe Running Tips

FROM TODD WILLIAMS, RUNSAFER.COM

RUN TOGETHER

Seek out more populated areas (or go with a group) to avoid vulnerable situations. There’s power in numbers!

Big River Running hosts weekly group runs year round at our South City and University City stores every Monday at 6 pm. We also host seasonal training programs that offer group running opportunities!

STAY AWARE

Pay attention to your surroundings with your eyes and ears. Look around to get a sense of your environment and what’s happening around you. If you listen to music on headphones, keep the volume low enough that you can hear over it.

Or check out AfterShokz bone conducting, open ear headphones can help you stay in-tune while listening to your tunes. And yes, we carry them at all Big River Running stores!

GO WITH YOUR GUT

If a situation or a location doesn’t feel right to you, trust your instincts and go somewhere else. It’s always better to feel comfortable as you run.

STAY CONNECTED

Let people know where you’re running and when you expect to return. You can also use the live tracking feature in the Runkeeper Go™ app to share your real-time location!

BE VISIBLE

It’s difficult for drivers to see runners in low-light conditions. Be proactive by wearing reflective gear or accessories to make yourself visible, no matter where you run.

Big River carries a variety of products to help you see and be seen!
